There are a few different ramen museums but none require a reservation.

I assume you refer to Cup Noodles Museum in Yokohama? Just note the closing days.

There is also the Ramen Museum

There are a few others around the country too like the Momofuku Instant Ramen Museum near Osaka

Click on the leaflet in the link I provided. You can use Hyperdia to work out how to get to Ikeda(Osaka) Station from wherever you stay in Osaka.

I don't know of any.

It seems for the chicken ramen there is but the custom one there are "limited spots which may sell out on busy days". It is explained on the link I provided. I'm not sure how to make a reservation but the official website may be useful.

Here is the official English website for the Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum near Osaka.

http://www.instantramen-museum.jp/english.htm

To hand-make a pack of instant noodle in the Chicken Ramen Factory on the upper floor requires advanced reservation. You can ask your hotel in Osaka to call up and make a reservation over the phone if you really want to go for it but note that the instruction is given in Japanese only. Reservation can be done from 10.00-16.00 at 0727-51-0825 except Tuesdays when the museum is closed.

On the other hand the Cupnoodles Factory workshop on ground floor does not require reservation. You just walk in, buy a 300 yen cup from the vending machine, sit down and drawing your own design on the cup. After that you hand the cup to the staff over the counter and specify the ingredients you want to put into the cup and watch it being processed. You get the chance to turn the wheel to seal the cup and the last fun part is to use a foot pump to have the finished cup noodle cushioned inside a vacuum plastic bag to take home as a souvenir. They will even provide you with a red string so that you can carry it over you shoulder just like a handbag. Kids will love doing all that.

Hi, esi!

This is my experience booking for 4 persons (wanted 8 places, but no more vacancies) for 30 Nov 2012 for the Chicken Ramen Factory course in Ikeda, Osaka.

- I know zero about the Japanese language, so I called them up at 81-72-751-0825. Was transferred to a lady who spoke English and did the booking for me. She would detail what time to arrive, that the course is in Japanese, Y500 per adult, and very importantly the Booking Reference No. Note that the phone reservations are open 10am-4pm, except for days when the Ramen Museum is closed, ie. Tuesday. Btw, the fee includes the yellow "baby chick" bandanna as souvenir; definitely something my wife & children will go ga-ga over :-).

- you can actually check on the vacancies available:
+ go to http://www.instantramen-museum.jp/crfactory/
+ somewhere in the middle of the page, you should see 3 circles - the left has a ladle & apron, the right has question marks, the centre a calendar. Click on the circle with the calendar and you should see the vacancies for Nov 2012 all the way to Feb 2013, "x" means no more vacancies.

Hope this helps.

Many thks, Richard. Great info. What abt the date with -? can i book with the sign -?

Re: Instant Ramen Museum 2012/10/31 19:01
"-" means not available, 'cos the Chicken Ramen Factory is closed Mondays & Tuesdays & major holidays. Also, only 3 sessions per day is available on Wed, Thurs, Fri but on Sat and Sun, there's an extra session.
