I intend to travel from Sapporo to Utoro in Feb using JR pass and Shari bus. If I take the 7.21am ltd express from Sapporo to Abashiri and then to Shiretoko Shari, what time is the bus from Shari to Utoro ? I saw the Shari bus schedule but not entirely sure which is a better connection as I don't read Japanese that well.

If I take the 7.21am ltd express from Sapporo to Abashiri and then to Shiretoko Shari, what time is the bus from Shari to Utoro ?I looked up the train timetable, and you would arrive in Shiretoko Shari at 14:12. Then I searched the bus timetable and found it here: http://www.sharibus.co.jp/201211_siretoko.pdf斜里バスターミナル refers to Shiretoko-Shari Station ウトロ温泉バスターミナル is the bus terminal in Utoro So, the next bus departure would be at 16:00, arriving in Utoro 50 minutes later. From February 1 to March 3, 2013 there are the following additional buses from Memenbetsu Airport via Shiretoko-Shari Station to Utoro, which provide an additional departure at 15:14: http://www.town.shari.hokkaido.jp/shiretoko/data/JR%E3%83%BB%E3%83%90%...Conclusion: your next departure is at 15:14.
