Hi, I will only be in Japan for 5 days, planning on flying in through Narita, hanging out in Tokyo a day, then taking a day trip to Kyoto and Osaka, and back to Tokyo to fly out. Which Rail Pass would I get in this situation? Also, for 5 days, what's the cheapest way I can get local cellphone service, in case our group gets split apart - Either data only/phone only would work, just want to know the cheapest way to communicate for 5 days. Thanks!

Hi, I will only be in Japan for 5 days, planning on flying in through Narita, hanging out in Tokyo a day, then taking a day trip to Kyoto and Osaka, and back to Tokyo to fly out. Which Rail Pass would I get in this situation?A 7 day rail pass would pay off for this trip. Also, for 5 days, what's the cheapest way I can get local cellphone service, in case our group gets split apart - Either data only/phone only would work, just want to know the cheapest way to communicate for 5 days. Thanks!Regular rental cell phones would probably be cheapest. Rentafone Japan often has 2 for 1 specials on rentals. http://www.rentafonejapan.com/

Mobal is also a good option if you won't call a lot. They don't charge a daily rental fee, but have higher than normal calling rates. So you could get a bunch of phones and then only use them if necessary. https://www.mobalnarita.com/
