Hanami Yoshinoyama too early 2013/1/17 03:39
Only have April 4 and 5 available, will this be too early and hence not worth the trip after sakura viewing in Kyoto ?

Unless March will be super-hot, it is unlikely that the trees will be in bloom that early this year. Even in Kyoto itself the peak of the season may not be reached yet.

We hear that cherry blossom season may come a bit late this year, but I would think early April is a very good time for area around Kansai even if the season is slightly off. We also read that trees on the mt. slope of Yoshino have different blooming periods due to the elevation, so much so that one stand a better chance of seeing at least some during the flowering season.
