Onsen

Hello,

I will be travelling to Japan beginning of April for 10 days.
I am looking for good Onsen experience at reasonable prices in an beautifull area with possibility of trekking.
What would you recommend ?

April is a little early for trekking. Most high of the best mountains are still snow covered and inaccessible unless you come with snow climbing gear and experience.

The Kirishima mountains in southern Kyushu are probably not snow covered anymore (although I am not sure), although volcanic activity is causing some of the best trails to be closed. Kirishima Onsen at the mountain's base has some very nice baths:

Wakayama Prefecture (e.g. Shirahama area) is quite nice. You can also visit the Kumano Sanzan while there, so you get a bit of hiking at least :)

Kyushu is a good choice as well. Mt. Unzen is interesting!

I can also recommend Kusatsu Onsen in Gunma Prefecture! :)
