Hakone or Izu 2013/1/25 01:37
thinking of either a Hakone or Izu onsen stay.

If i travel out fr Tokyo to Hakone and visit the place in e day, is it better to:
1) Stay at Hakone for the night?
2) Head on to Izu for the night?
3) Stay Hakone 1N, travel out to Izu 2nd N

I m trying to go to this onsen from Hakone.
How do I get there? coz it seems like I can only go there from Tokyo??

Let me guess that e = 3.

I would go for option 3) and spend one night in each area. But then again option 3) is not exclusive of either 1) or 2). Your question confuses me on more than one way.

I assume you will travel by public transportation. There are a few possible ways of travel depending on where in Hakone you will be starting from. For example, there is a bus that connects Hakone-machi at the shores of Lake Ashinoko with Atami, from where you can then take the Izukyu Railway to the ryokan. Alternatively, if you start your journey from the Hakone-Yumoto area, it would be easier to travel to Odawara and catch a train from there to your ryokan.

If you want to go to Izu from Hakone, you need to get back out to Atami, then travel further south. Inatori is further south along the coast on this map from Izu Kogen, before Kawazu.

The rest depends on how much time you have, and how much you want to see in these two places, because each has a lot to see, if you care to :)

I don't know when you are coming, but if you visit in late Feb. to early Mar., the Kawazu early-blooming cherry blossoms are worth a visit.

Hi.

Thanks for your replies!
I decided to go with both Hakone and Izu stay! haha~

I read abt the early blooming flowers too but I am heading to Japan only in early April.

Btw, anyone know about the Senoumi ryokan that I am interested in?
Is it near any other attractions or are there shopping or sightseeing around the area?

Coz I was thinking of spending 1 more day in Izu since I m alrd there.. but I dont know what I can do or go, esp we dont drive and can only rely on trains.
Any suggestion??? THANKS!

Senoumi ryokan is near the town of Inatori whose main attraction is the Izu Kamori Bio Park.

Some more references for Inatori can be found in the following:

With an extra day consider going down south a bit to Kawazu which serves as a gateway for the more popular destination of Kawazu-Nanadaru.

For more wildlife, north of Inatori is Atagawa with Atagawa Banana-Wanien, the Banana & Crocodile Park.
