Hiroshima to Shinagawa 09:48 SHINKANSEN SAKURA 542 with 8 minutes tansfer at Himeji station.
Could any member please advise if the SHINKANSEN HIKARI 466 at Himeji station is departing at the same track as the arrival track of SHINKANSEN SAKURA 542?

Yes, it departs from the same platform. The transfer will be utterly unproblematic.

Besides that Himeji's Shinkansen area is rather small and so it won't take long to change from one bullet train to another even if you have to go to another track! ;)

You'd be amazed at how far you can get in 8 minutes of transfer time, too. And you probably won't be the only person going from one train to another.
I've been involved in plenty of mass train dashes when transferring and I've never had a problem. Though it does help to be prepared to leave the train right away and to know where you need to go.
