From Miyazaki to Aoshima and Udo Shrine?

hello,

on august 25th i plan to visit aoshima and udo shrine. we take the trains from hakata to miyazaki (6.45-10.57 AM). and then we would like to visit aoshima and udo shrine and then return to hakata.

1. can we take a train from miyazaki to aoshima?
2. after that can we take a bus from aoshima to udo shrine?
3. which are the bus times leaving miyazaki station/udo shrine and aoshima to udo shrine?

Yes. to JR Aoshima sta.
but between JR Miyazaki and Aoshima train operate not a lot.

No. JR train Aoshima to Ibii sta then local bus 20min.

we arrive at 11 AM at miyazaki and then i think we take the bus to udo shrine and then another one from udo shrine to aoshima. then the train from aoshima to miyazaki and there back to hakata.

which are the bus times for that plan (weekdays/weekends)?
i cannot read japanese, only hiragana and katakana.

The timetable seems to be the same for all weekdays. you can select them in the drop list menu:
•½“ú means Monday to Friday
“y—j means Saturday
“ú�j means Sundays and public holidays

You can easily go from Jr Miyazaki Station to Aoshima and Udo Shrine (and also Sunmesse if you want to) by bus.
It's all the same bus line as well!
You can get a detailed bus schedule from the bus center right next to the JR station.

I've been to Aoshima and Udo Shrine on the same day, traveling by bus.

On my trip to Miyazaki this year, I did this trip, and I am looking for my bus schedule. I can tell you that you go to the #3 bus stop at the station to take the bus. There is a day pass that you can get from the bus terminal, which you then just flash when you get off the bus.

There are so many stops that you might want to go to the bus station ticket office and pick up a schedule. The bus station is on the right side when you exit the train station.

The bus goes south to a castle, and there are several wonderful stops along the way. There is a sports complex, a flower garden, Aoshima Island and another garden (same stop), The Easter Island Replicas garden, the Udo shrine, and the castle.

It is impossible to get everything in on one day, so I went to the Udo Shrine, and Aoshima Island. I would check the tide schedules for Aoshima Island, and try to go near low tide, because the sea floor around the island is really interesting.

There is a lot of steps involved in the Udo shrine, but far fewer then there used to be. There is now a tunnel through the hillside that allows you to not have to go over the hill. It was the start of golden week, and there were many booths selling food and items. I wanted to purchase some roasted corn, but I held off.

At the Aoshima Island stop, I did go into a resteraunt and had their "set" lunch. It was served is a round woven basket, and was very good. Once at the shrine, make sure you bear to the right and go to the second "inner" shrine, The path to the inner shrine had a framework for hanging the pentagon shaped boards on.

I will try and repost tonight with bus departure times, if I can find the bus schedule.

As for bus schedules, this was given as the correct schedule for April 28th, 2013. The is a Sunday, and I can't say this is the normal weekday schedule. The final two departure time going southward had a special symbol by them, and did not stop at the Udo shrine. Considering how late the would arrive, I would expect the shrine to be closed, but I think the symbol was to mark that these times were only good on some days, so I believe that the route is the same.

First bus southward
Miyazaki Station: 8:19 AM
Aoshima Island: 9:10 AM
Udo Shrine: 9:47 AM

Additional departures from Miyazaki Station:
9:40 11:00 11:45 12:40 13:55 14:45 15:40 These two times had a symbol by them, and may not run on some days: 17:20 18:45
