Japanese denim American repro workwear

My husband is interested in finding retail outlets for the japanese selvedge denim that is made in styles of American workwear from the 1940s, 50s, 60s, etc. This is not uniqlo, but extremely well made, almost art-like clothing. Can anyone suggest places to go?
