Hey Guys,
I have got a question about culture of hospitality in japan. I will travel to Japan this summer and I will meet a Japanese friend that live in Fukoka for a weekend. I was thinking to book a room in an hostel for few days, since I don't want to impose my presence cause I know that If I ask him to host me for a couple of days, I wouldn't say no; on the other hand If I don't ask him and I tell him, I will stay in an hostel I might be feel offended (maybe I might think that his house is not good enough). I don't know. Does it make sense?

Daniel33,
Yes, it completely makes sense.
Simply tell him, "I'm going to Japan and I will be staying at a hostel."
If your friend says, "No, please stay at my home." than you should stay at his home. If he says nothing, then book the hostel.
