China Union Pay - I do not know debit or credit, but the card brand itself - has increasing acceptance in department stores and large stores in Japan.

Thanks for the reply, I weren't sure if the union pay card acceptance in japan refers to credit card or ATM cards, also I have a plus atm crd without the IC chipset, is this usable in japan.
