Tokyo and Hakone Transport Guide 2013/8/14 15:54
Dear all,

I need some advice as I am planning to visit Toyko and Hakone in Dec.

I am planning to visit Tokyo and Hakone for a total 8 days and landing in Narita Airport. I will be staying around Shinjuku area.

I am pretty confused by the train systems and the train passes.

Will it be beneficial for me to get JR pass to roam in central Tokyo? Does JR pass also include ride to the Shinjuku from the airport? Or should I get a SUICA Card instead?

To get to Hakone, I was advised to get the romantic car pass which I believe it is a separate cost.

Upon reaching Hakone, it was also suggested that I should get Hakone Free Pass. Is that correct?

Please help. Thanks!

Certainly not. The Japan Rail Pass only pays off for long distance travel.

I recommend to use a Suica&NEX package.

As for Hakone, I recommend to use the Hakone Free Pass that includes the round trip from Shinjuku. A supplement has to be paid if you use the Romance Car. More details about the pass:
