Song with accompanying dance craze?

When I was in Japan there was a song near (or maybe even at) the top of the music charts which had an accompanying dance routine. This was somewhere around the 8th September. The music video seemed to show lots of members of the public in the street doing the dance. It must've been pretty popular because we saw several groups of teenagers doing bits of the dance at various points during our trip.
Can anyone help identify the song please?
