At the Tokyo Dome are sold out for 28, 29, and 30 March. Is there any point to checking at the box office on game day or does sold out mean that the ticket booths are closed? I've read that scalpers are an option, but I've very little Japanese with which to bargain.

Giants vs Tigers games are very popular therefore tickets are sold quickly. And also, these games are held during the spring break for school pupils thus not much seats are available. If you go to Tokyo Dome on the game day, then it might available the day ticket. Not sure how many day tickets are available.

Yes, just go to Tokyo Dome early in the morning, you might have a chance to get one of the cheaper -standing only- tickets.
