Fuji rock festival? Anyone been?

I'd like to go to Fuji rock. Not this year, maybe next year or the year after.
I'd be coming from the UK. Is there anyone who's been and can give me any advice on how to prepare for getting to the festival?
Anything like....where to fly to first, where and when to get transport from? Is it better to camp or to pay for accommodation nearby? Etc etc. anything at all would be helpful.

I've been.
The site is on the Niigata shinkansen, just take local trains to Omiya then its a straight ride up.
Its better to avoid camping if you can afford it. It is really hot and sticky. But festivals are about uncomfortable sleeping
