can someone tell me how to read this and what is its meaning?
空っ伏
The sentence I took it from was: 路肩に見事に空っ伏している。
It would be helpful if you can tell me how to translate the sentence too. Thank you

I've never heard 空っ伏す, maybe it's 突っ伏す(tsuppusu), I think? It's an emphasized word means 伏す(fukusu; to prostrate/lay on one's face). By the way, it's often used for disappointed or sleeping students. http://goo.gl/nJhsid
