Nishiki market - Wagashi 2014/9/2 04:28
When I visited Kyoto this July I ate this really awesome wagashi at a stand in Nishiki market.

It was a ball of anko (bigger than a ping-pong ball, smaller than a tennis ball) and around it was some kind of thin, airy matcha coating. It seemed baked, like matcha mixed into beaten egg whites?

I, of course gobbled it up before taking a photo and can't remember the name. :/

Can anybody help?

I think it's started with the hiragana tsu? Maybe even tsuki?

More crispy, texture-wise it resembled/looked a bit like cream puffs.

But it wasn't a filled creampuff lol, the coating was maybe 2 mm thick.

I had not seen such a wagashi before and it was so delicious.
