Good places for good food around Shinjuku 2014/10/3 05:50
Hello!I just want to ask what are the cheap and good places to eat yakitori,ramen,sushi/sashimi around Shinjuku??

What do you think of Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai?

Omoide Yokocho - cheap and lots of atmosphere.

Golden Gai - lots of atmosphere, not necessarily cheap (and can be very expensive).

Neither is particularly known for good food, but you might get lucky.

For yakitori I like Kokekokko: http://www.bento.com/rev/1977.html

Kodawariya is somewhat cheaper but also good: (03-5371-8384)

Hina Sushi is good, and has all you can eat for around Y4000: (03-5367-3705)

For ramen I'm a fan of Musashi: http://www.bento.com/rev/3690.html but there are plenty of choices in the area (including one in Golden Gai).

delicious Okonomiyaki

I'm not aware that there is such a thing, ha ha.

Personally I wouldn't waste a meal on okonomiyaki and would instead try Okinawan and other regional cuisines, interesting izakayas, nice tonkatsu (I like Katsukura), good tempura, even Japanese curry....

Of all the Japanese food I have eaten during the past 35 years of visiting there, okonomiyaki is absolutely my least favorite.

There is a good takoyaki stand in kabukicho on the corner by the movie theater.. I think its the first left after you walk under the bridge form the JR station (near the Prince Hotel).
