places to meet locals 2014/11/6 14:34
I'll be visiting Tokyo soon and was wondering of some good places to meet locals and hang out. I'd prefer college aged kids, since I'm 23 myself, but any company is welcome since ill be traveling alone. any general place is welcome, but personal experience with a specific place would help!

Same places you meet locals anywhere else. Bars, clubs, parks, museums... Not that difficult.

Or a college! They've got cheap cafeteria lunches too!

Izakaya near the station where universities are close to.
Students usually have a party. If you see a group of young people, try to talk to them. They might invite you for a glass of beer or even for their party.

Actually it's quite difficult to meet locals at izakaya, the people goes there in closed groups, they are not open to invite new people. It is different at bars or pubs where sometimes you can actually start casual conversations with the locals.

I think that it's hard to talk to people in the IZAKAYA.
HUB such as a high percentage of foreigners, but there is an open atmosphere.
