Traditional restaurant in Hiroshima 2015/4/9 14:50
I'm travelling to Hiroshima in May with overseas guests and I would like to take them to a traditional Japanese restaurant. Not necessarily sushi, rather a nice and cosy local place. Budget is not much of an issue, however, it does not need to be Michelin starred or something. English menu would be great. Thank you for your advice!

The best thing to do is go to Hiroshima Station. Go to Tourist information center. They would have a map with the various food outlets with recommendations based on the type of food, price, and location.

I found Suishin (on the 6th floor of the "ASSE" Hiroshima station building) quite pleasant and delicious. Hiroshima cuisine.

Another Hiroshima cuisine restaurant: Kakiden (5 minutes' walk to the north from Hiroshima station) - I saw a lot of photos on their menu, and I saw some non-Japanese guests there. Cozy, but when there are groups of Japanese guests, it could get a bit smoky:

If you're going to Hiroshima, any Japanese person will say, eat Okonomiyaki. It's their soul food and it's cheap and some places not so clean, but it's as close as you get to Hiroshima food. I've had business people take me to local Okonomiyaki places because they are proud of the food. There's an American dude who actually shows how it's done so you'll probably get a good view on how it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=11&v=rJZtefnr1GY
