We'll be catching the 7.50am bus from Takayama to Matsumoto. What are our options for getting an early breakfast before we leave?
Is it ok to take food to eat on the Nohi bus trip?

Just grab something at a combini. And yes, it's normally okay to eat on buses, within reason of course.

Plenty of combinis right by the bus station. Bus station is same place as train station, so there's as good a choice there as you'll find anywhere at that time in the morning.
