Legit website to purchase JR Pass? 2015/6/13 12:50
Hi All,
My friends and I have already bought or plane tickets to Japan, and are in the midst of purchasing a JR Pass. Is the below a legit place to order it from?

https://www.japan-experience.com/japan-rail-pass

From my research - it is, but still would like an assurance.
Let me know,
Thanks.

I get mine through Kintetsu. I can't speak for your site.

Get it from one of the offices in your area. If you're close enough, you can buy it in person.

I would buy it from a local agent or JTB Canada

I used the Japan Rail Pass web site earlier this year, and was completely satisfied. I still don't know if they are in Paris or London, and I am in the Philippines. But it doesn't matter as I got the vouchers within 3 days via FedEx.

I also got the DOCOMO data SIM, which worked fine, even on the Shinkansen.

The two rail guides they include if you buy more than one pass were essentially worthless. OTOH, I have extensive knowledge of rail transportation in Japan.

Oops, sorry to confuse you. The Japan Rail Pass web site I mentioned and the Japan Experience web site you asked about are the same.

Their service is fast and professional. Their $14 FedEx charge is half what I have to pay to send a FedEx envelope to the USA. Other places wanted up to $50 for FedEx, and others charged a lot more for the rail passes. I did a lot of research, and they had the best deal.

Well, just to make things more complicated, I ordered my passes from https://www.japan-rail-pass.com/ and the top of their site says "Japan Rail Pass by Japan Experience."

But if I look at the Japan Experience site the URL is https://www.japan-experience.com/japan-rail-pass/order-jrp and there isn't any mention of the other services that the Japan Rail Pass site offers (SIM, PASMO card, airport limo, etc.).

I bought from the first URL, Japan Rail Pass.

I also see the Japan Rail Pass site also has a Facebook page, which also says JRP by JE.

^ If you order from here, DON'T get it sent by Royal Mail as they don't pay enough postage on the letter. They make you pay the rest and trying to bring the issue up with customer service is like talking to a brick wall. They've admitted they know about the problem, but a friend of mine still had this happen to him 4 months after it happened to me. Otherwise I recommend as it was the cheapest for me and is good for regional passes. But just bear this in mind :)
