If I am looking to see if jicama (yambean) is sold in Japan's supermarkets, what would the Japanese name be?
Also, I only once found choi sum (leafy green vegetable) in Japan. What is the Japanese name for this veggie and why is it not commonly sold here?

Jicama: I had to look it up to see what it is :) I don't recall ever having seen it. It is called either "hikama" ("jicama" just pronounced in the original Spanish way) or "kuzu-imo," due to its leaves looking similar to "kuzu" plant. Wikipedia says it is at times grown in Okinawa (tropical), but very rarely found in Japanese food market.
Choi sum: "Saishin" 菜心 in Japanese. Green pak choi 青梗菜 is commonly seen in Japanese supermarkets, but not this one.
