Unlocked Japanese phone for my existing sim? 2015/10/22 22:49
I've ordered a prepaid data sim to use in my smartphone in Japan, but I'd still like my parents to be able to call me in an emergency, so I'm intending to put my normal sim in another phone.

Is it possible to buy a cheap unlocked phone in Japan for this purpose?

Yes, it is possible.

There are a few places that sell cheap unlocked (called "SIM free") in Akihabara.

How much did you want to spend?

Should be able to get a new flip phone for around 8000yen, or a new smart phone (cheap chinese phone) for around 14,000yen.
