Is Line voice/video calling free?

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I wonder if calling, voice or video, with Line is free from America to Japan or so on? I would like to talk to friends who don't have Skype!

Line voice calling is free. The only associated cost would be whatever you pay for mobile internet or wifi.

I think I'm right in saying that the other person needs Line as well for it to be free, otherwise you need credit and there's a charge (like Skype)

Yes, it is free, but uses your data. I use Line all the time for voice and video calls with friends in the U.S., but friends must also have the Line app installed. Other friends use Viber, but I prefer Line and all of the fun stickers and games they have.
