Kaiseki Ryori 2016/2/28 22:41
Hi

I would love to try kaiseki ryori but I also know that it is not cheap. Can anyone let me know how much is the price of kaiseki ryori for 1 person.

Also, recommend good restaurant of kaiseki ryori in Tokyo.

Thanks!

If budget is a major factor then I would suggest going for a kaiseki lunch. You can probably find something for around 3000-5000 yen for a single person. One of the best value options would be to stay at a ryokan that includes a kaiseki dinner. Overall it's more expensive (roughtly 15000 yen/person/night), but one of the best travel experiences in Japan and only marginally more expensive than a hotel stay which you would be replacing. Kikunoi in Akasaka is very good; it's the Tokyo branch of a long-established Kyoto kaiseki restaurant:

I think lunch starts at Y10,000 (plus tax and maybe service), and dinner starts at Y15,000.

Kakiden in Shinjuku is well regarded and is a bit cheaper, but I haven't been there myself:

They have a 15-dish mini-kaiseki service with table seating at dinnertime for Y9504 (including tax and service). Tatami seating in private rooms starts at Y18,630.

Good luck!

Thank you.

I found 3 kaiseki restaurants. do you mind to let us know which one is good?

1. Matuenoaji Nihonbashiminami, near Nihombashi station
2. Sousoubou, near Shinjuku sanchome
3. Ginza Maru, at Ichigo Ginza

From the review website. the kaiseki meal is for one person is about 4,000 - 8,000 yen. If correct, I think I can afford it.

Hi,

There are two kinds of Kaiseki Ryori (same pronunciation but different Chinese letters): One is related with Tea Ceremony and the other is party cuisine consists of full course. I guess you mean the latter.

My recommendation is the following two restaurants where you can enjoy a gorgeous garden view too:

Cheers.
