Asking "is ramen good" is like asking "is pizza good". Although the basic idea is always the same, it comes in all shapes and sizes and flavours.

Google tells me that "Mr. Noodles" is a brand of instant noodles sold in North America. Ramen usually does not refer to instant noodles but to a dish of fresh noodles in broth, usually eaten in specialised ramen restaurants.

https://www.google.co.jp/search?q=%E3%83%A9%E3%83%BC%E3%83%A1%E3%83%B3...

There is also instant ramen, which is a kind of instant noodles designed to mimic the "real thing".

It's like microwaved frozen pizza to fresh made oven baked pizza.

Just like Firas said, yours Mr. Noodle is just instant noodles, maybe to western people its ramen.

Yes, ramen is good, it is delicious. You don't say where in Japan you will be but there are regional types of ramen in some areas you may not find in others. It is usually filling and inexpensive and very much worth a try if you've never had it. Packaged/instant ramen is not in the same league.

There's almost definitely a ramen restaurant in Canada! See if you can find a Japanese restaurant in your area. I live in Australia and there are heaps - you don't have to go to Japan to try ramen (although it is more genuine there).

The noodles in Japanese ramen are Chinese-style noodles. Chinese cuisine was a big influencer of Japanese cuisine.

The more responses this question gets. The funnier it becomes.

hmm.... how are noodles chinese? arent they wheatien or somethin? if the noodles are wheatien, does that mean that ramen isnt japanese, its a wheatien food? (noodles are made out of beef and wheat)

Before you type any more responses. Please go to your local Chinese shop and try the noodles. Then compare to you instant noodles.

Do not worry about Chinese vs Japanese.

Re: Is ramen any good? 2016/5/31 13:10
Any sort of instant noodles is rubbish compared to freshly made ramen. If you are going to Japan, try Hakata ramen. lived there for a bit and it was delicious. They will never divulge the recipe for their soup though.
I saw a little place in Tokyo selling Hakata ramen and at lunchtime there was a line all the way down the street everyday!

See a film (old now) called Tampopo to learn all about ramen and the Japanese obsession with food. :)

OP, please do some research yourself. This is starting to get ridiculous. Answers to all your questions can be found on Google and Wikipedia. Or, just go try some ramen! Buy some from a supermarket and cook it yourself!

Also, noodles are not made out of beef.

Noodles are made of stardust and unicorn's tears.

With a little beef and some octopus, but only on Thursdays.

They also rhyme with poodles, although they don't contain them.
