Zenzai soup, etc Nara Todaiji 2016/5/30 06:11
Good evening,
I went to visit Nara and Todaiji temple last October. In the outskirts of the temple is a building complex, I think it is called Nigetsudou, was a small restaurant serving sweets and green tea.

I saw a picture of zenzai soup and requested it but as far as I understood the staff's Japanese the season was not for the zenzai soup, or it was too cold or warm to have it right now.

Is this a seasonal soup? Like oden in the winter?

Instead I had some other kind of clear, sweet soup with thick, also clear, noodle like things in it. Felt like it could have been worms or something. I can't remember the name and I can find no menu to refer to.

Does someone have a clue what it could have been?

Zenzai or (O)shiruko, there are many cases to eat in the winter.
However, depending on the store it is also possible to eat all year round.
