I don't quite understand your question... typing in where??
If you are asking about how to type in Japanese, if you have learned the Japanese keyboard layout (which not too many people even in Japan have), you could set your keyboard to Japanese input mode and hit はand then い key.
However, for example I am Japanese but have learned the QWERTY keyboard layout, so I would enter "h a i," then hit "convert" to get はい on the screen. Is this what you mean?
