Kabuki in Kyoto 2016/9/8 20:43
Hello!

I read in one location that the Minaniza theater is closed for renovations. Could someone please confirm this?

Is it possible to see a kabuki show in either here or elsewhere in Kyoto on either the 9/10 of September?

Do I need to purchase tickets ahead of time or can I show up at the door? I will be in Osaka on 12 of September and Tokyo on the 15th otherwise, if it is possible to see one then?

Thank you in advance for all your help!

For Tokyo, have a look at this site, it looks like seats are available: https://www2.ticket-web-shochiku.com/eticket/top.do

Minamiza is apparently closed for earthquake retrofitting inspection. Still, in a normal year they only put on one or two runs so you have to have pretty good timing to catch a show there. I would recommend visiting Kabukiza in Tokyo instead. You can buy tickets in advance, or show up to buy one act tickets.

...and I just realized that your Tokyo day was today. Hope you were able to figure things out and catch some Kabuki.
