Living Cost Tokyo for exchange student 2016/11/24 03:35
I have been accepted for an internship in Tokyo. The company is willing to pay me 70000 Yen per month. The internship will be for four months.

In addition to the 70000 Yen per month the company will pay for the following :
1) Accommodation (Rent)
2) Utilities (Electricity+Water+Gas+Internet)
3)Health Insurance
4) Transport from home to office.

By my estimates I will have to pay for the following :
1) Food (I am a vegetarian and I cannot cook)
2)Phone plan
3)"Entertainment" which will include transportation cost as well.

Please guide me. Is 70000 Yen enough given the above? If not, how much extra money will I have to spend out of my pocket?

If you have special dietary needs and can't cook at all, your food budget will probably take up around half your stipend if not more. Still, it's enough to survive on if you don't take any expensive trips, have a cheap phone plan, and only spend moderately.

Learning to prepare some simple things would help you if you're trying to save money- you can make enough pasta with tomato sauce and some frozen veggies to make several meals of for just a few hundred yen.
