Information about following someone to japan

My boyfriend is studying in japan. Is there any way for me to be able to follow him? Would it be possible for me to follow him as his girlfriend? What are my options? Thank you.

Either go be a student or a tourist!

To stay with him the whole time you would need to get your own visa- either working holiday, student, or working. There is no residence status for 'girlfriend,' you will have to qualify for residence status on your own.

There is no such thing as a girlfriend visa. Either you can get married, and go as his wife, or you need to find a way to get your own visa, either as a student yourself, or with some type of working visa, if you have the required qualifications.

Other than that, periodic visits would be pretty much your only option.
