Engineer Visa (COE) with unrelated degree? 2017/4/2 16:24
Hey Japan-Guide,

I have a small company company willing to sponsor me for an IT job from overseas. They have a immigration lawyer helping out with the certificate of eligibility (COE). I have a 4-year bachelor of science degree in biochem. and an associates in comp. sci. I noticed that the Japanese immigration website states that you needed a "related" degree for the Engineer visa. Will I have any problems?

Any comments, stories or experiences welcome. Thanks.

It's up to immigration's judgment whether your degree is "related" enough. If they think it's not, you don't get the CoE.
