How to say "the way..." in japanese? 2017/4/17 09:04
How would you say "the way..." like in "the way you talk" or "the way you are" in japanese?
Thanks.

There are many ways to say it, but the simplest way to say "the way you talk" would be "hanashi kata" (if it is the general "you"), from the verb "hanasu/hanashimasu" (to talk, to speak). Instead if you are going to say something to a particular person, like "The way you talk can sound arrogant," then you might say: "anata no hanashi kata wa gouman ni kikoemasu." ("gouman" = arrogant), clearly adding the "the way YOU talk."

"The way you are" is a bit more difficult. If you mean "the way you live (carry yourself in life, if you are a follower or a leader, bold or not, etc., ") you might say "(anata no) iki kata," taking the verb "ikiru/ikimasu" (to live).

If you want to say something like "(I love you just) the way you are," then it would be "sono mama no anata" (you as you are).
