20 day itinerary Kansai & Tokyo

Hello,
We went to Japan this year in April and we really loved our time there. We loved it so much, that we decided to go back in 2018. We already have our flights and apartment booked for May 2018. Last time we were in Japan for 15 days. Most of the time in Tokyo and a few days in Kyoto. This year we will stay 13 days in the Kansai Region and only 7 in Tokyo. Kyoto will be again our home in Kansai, we definitely prefer that over staying at different places.
However, our trip this year was very packed and felt at times very stressful. We want to take our time and not rush from A to B etc. Of course there will be days where we actually will be very close to this, but not day after day. So our itinerary should be a mix between gletfs see everythingh and gthis is actually a vacation and not a project plan we need to completeh.
Of course I would appreciate all of your thoughts, tips and recommendations, but if you would ask me for specific points, I would be interested in the following:
1.) Did we cover most of the interesting places? Is there anything in your opinion which we should actually see? 2.) Are there any train or bus passes you would recommend? We are actually not sure if we should take the 7 days or 14 days JR pass, because with 14 JR days we are more flexible (weather). Or would it make sense to buy a Kansai pass for time in Kansai?
Day 1: Arrival KIX - Travel to Kyoto Day 2: Kyoto Day 3: Kyoto Day 4: Kyoto - Arashiyama Day 5: Amanohashidate Day 6: Osaka Day 7: Nara Day 8: Hiroshima Day 9: Kobe Day 10: Kyoto Day 11: Okunoshima Day 12: Himeji Day 13: Osaka Day 14: Travel to Tokyo Day 15: Tokyo Day 16: Lake Kawaguchiko Day 17: Tokyo Day 18: Tokyo Day 19: Tokyo Day 20: Departure HND
Thank you!

I think your itinerary can be divided into three parts, Day 1 to Day 7, Day 8 to Day 14 and Day 15 to Day 20. Among them, the middle part (Day 8 to Day 14) will definitely good for the Japan Rail Pass 7 days. Kyoto to Hiroshima round trip will cost more than 20000 yen, Kyoto to Tokyo one way 13600 yen, Kyoto to Tadanoumi (Okunoshima) round trip about 20000 yen, etc.
As for the 14 day pass, the difference between the 7 day pass is 17280 yen. Kyoto to Amanohashidate round trip is 9000 yen and Tokyo to Otsuki (Kawaguchiko) round trip is about 5000 yen, and short travel around Tokyo and Kyoto is 1000 yen per day. So the sum would be 19000 yen. Then, the 14 day pass starting on Day 5 and ending on Day 18 will pay off. Of course you will have flexibility by having the pass: You can go to, for example, Kiso valley (from Kyoto), Nagano, Karuizawa Niigata or Nikko (from Tokyo) for free.
