Can you visit Owakudani in Hakone (Sept2017)?

Hello! I am just wondering if you are able to get out at the Owakudani stop on the Ropeway and walk around and see the volcano yet? I checked the official ropeway site and it says the ropeway is currently running to all stations, but i am wondering if it actually stops at Owakudani and if you're allowed to get off and check it all out? I can't seem to find a clear answer on the status of the volcano as at 2017 no matter how much i google so any help would be much appreciated :)
