cruise ship dock in Toyama 2017/10/11 06:55
Is the cruise ship dock for Toyama close to the city center of Toyama . Is the Shinminato fish market within walking distance?

I was curious so did some light Googling.

It seems to be about 7km from the Cruise terminal to Toyama Station. There is a light rail system which takes about 25 minutes & costs 200 Yen

According to the pdf linked from this page http://www.mlit.go.jp/kankocho/cruise/detail/021/index.html it is a similar distance to the fish market but given its location it would be much more of a paint to get to without a car, definitely not walking distance. There may be buses but as I said. I just had a quick look.

You need to find out which port your cruise ship will be using. The big ships use Fushiki Port, which is about 10km from downtown. Shinminato is the middle port, about 4km east of Fushiki where there's a big fish market. The small Iwase Port is about 6km east of Shinminato but closest to the downtown at about 4km. Toyama City is inland from the coast.

This pdf has some info:

Perhaps your cruise ship will use Fushiki Man'yo port since when I googled, all the information about the cruise in Toyama says it will use this port.

It is far from Shinminato fish market (about 7 km) and I think there is no public transportation. Actually Fushiki is not in Toyama city but in Takaoka city. Toyama city is 25 km away, but I think the cruise ship will provide bus tour to some tourist spots such as Shirakawago, Takayama, etc. Ask the cruise ship company for the optional tour.
