Hakone vs. Fuji Five Lakes in April 2018

Hello everyone,

We have three nights to spend in Hakone and Fuji Five Lakes (14-16 Apr 2018). Is it better to spend two days in Hakone or two days in Fuji Five Lakes?

Things that we want to do/visit in Hakone:
- Odawara Castle
- Old Tokaido hiking trail towards Amazake Chaya
- Moto Hakone & Hakone Shrine
- Cedar Avenue & Old Checkpoint
- Lake Ashinoko / Detached Imperial Palace to see the view
- Green Plaza Hotel or other Onsen
- Should we give Owakudani a miss? What about Choanji Temple ground and hiking trail?

Fuji Five Lakes:
- Chureito Pagoda
- Lake Kawaguchiko
- Kachi Kachi Ropeway
- Iyashi no Sato
- Yurari Onsen
- Shiabarazuka Festival
- Are the bat/ice/wind caves worth visiting?

Have you ever visited these place? Any tips or advise is much appreciated.

I think you have a 50/50 split in terms of locations you wanna cover.

I would probably judge it on the most time spent at onsens to which you would award the extra night say.
