Hiking stop on the way from Shari to Sapporo 2017/10/14 08:31
Hello,
In 3 days from now I'm going to the way from shari to Sapporo in hokkaido by train.
I was thinking that it could be nice to stop somewhere along the road for a short hike, that not the whole day will be wasted if the train ride.
Does someone have an idea of a place like that, where I can stop?
I am traveling with a large suitcase, so I'll have to store it at a visit center or train station.

I was thinking about Akan national park, but from everything I read it looks like there is no bus this time of year from the train station.
Thanks!

Shiretoko-Shari 645-743 Yobito 1211-1307 Kitami 1325-1619 Asahikawa 1630-1755 Sapporo
I found another footpath in Lake Abashiri. It is a course around Yobito Peninsula. 7 km / 2:15 for one leg.

Lake Tofutsu has some English info.

Tofutsu-ko Waterfowl and Wetland Center is near JR Kitahama. You could borrow bicycles there.

Koshimizu Wild Flower Preserve Information Center "Hana" is neighboring to JR Genseikaen station. Here are also some bicycles with no rent.

One more. Now, Akan National Park has been renamed as Akan-Mashu National Park. The change happened in this summer. The map still uses the old name.

Some pickups from there.
