Hello anyone,
We fix to purchase the JR pass to travel from Shin-Osaka or Kyoto to Tokyo but after check "Hyperdia" timetable, We found out that o November 13 they have only one Hikari Train and most they have Nozomi Train, as we know Nozomi doesn't cover JR Pass. Do you think we should buy Single Nozomi ticket instead JR Pass so we have more choice? also, can we order and make the reservation for Nozomi ticket online? your advice would be appreciated.

No, there are two Hikari trains per hour.

Depends on the rest of your itinerary. To begin with: a Japan Rail Pass does not pay off for a one-way trip from Osaka to Kyoto. So, if you have no other long-distance trips planned, definitely do not get a rail pass. But if the rest of your itinerary justifies a rail pass, you should use it on a Hikari train between Osaka and Tokyo, as well.

What time of day are you trying to make the journey?
There are many Hikari trains on that given day- in the search box did you "unclick" the nozomi option so that it doesn't even show these trains- hyperdia will show you nozomi trains before hikari as this would be the faster option.
