Hallo,

I am going to visit Japan, Kyoto to be exact from 13-17
I am curious of the day trip onsen to visit in kyoto. Without stay in.
Also what to do in kyoto during that period of time? Would that be snowy winter ?
Is there any foods or eating place recomendation?
Thank you..

Basically Kyoto is not an onsen town, but you can go to Kurama onsen. Take Eizan train from Demachiyanagi to Kurama. The Kurama onsen provides free shuttle bus. But honestly if this is not your only trip to Japan, I think you might better try onsen for next trip to more onsen-oriented places such as Kyushu or Tohoku.

Sometimes it snows in Kyoto in this season, but it is rare to see the piled up snow in Kyoto. You are lucky if you get snow in your days in Kyoto. Almost all the tourist destinations will open, but all the leaves are fallen except for the evergreen trees. The bright side is that the hotel can be booked easily and the crowds are less.

Kyoto is the capital of ancient Japan and still the capital of cuisine in Japan. I mean Kaiseki ryori, but this is not the type of food every foreigner will prefer. If you are not used to Japanese cuisine, try first Manshige at JR Kyoto station (no reservation required). If you like it, try more authentic version in Manshige at Nishijin (reservation required).
