Visit Chureito pagoda buy train with luggage

Hi all,

I plan to visit Chureito pagoda on my way from Kawaguchiko station to Tokyo station, it means I have to alight at Shimo-Yoshida station. First of all is it a good plan or do I have any other options?

And then I'll have to carry my luggage with me, is there a luggage storage at Shimo-Yoshida station or I need to leave it at Kawaguchiko station?

There is no coin locker at Shimoshida station.
However, there is not 1 km from the station to Chureito pagoda.

From Kawaguchiko station to Chureito pagoda it is about 1,500yen (about 14 $) by taxi.
