Tennoji-Transfer time 2017/11/26 06:31
Hello. This will be the first time we are visiting Japan. we will be travelling on JR Pass from Kyoto to JR Namba and Hyperdia suggested route where we will arrive at Tennoji (arrival track 15) at 6.33pm and depart from Tennoji (departure track 17) at 6.36pm.
Will we be able to make the transfer under 3min? If yes, can someone guide us how to find the departure track 17. If not possible, what other options do we have.

Thanks.

Normally Tennoji to Namba is via Subway (6 min, three stops, 230 yen). The subway goes every 2-3 min so you don't need to wait for long time. The JR train is less frequent and less convenient in general but it depends on where in Namba you want to go (where your hotel is). Still there are 18:39 and 18:43 trains after 18:36 train to JR Namba. You don't need to worry about the transfer. Rather you might better check whether your hotel is close to JR Namba or Subway Namba station.

According to the current timetable for weekdays, the next two trains for JR-Namba are scheduled to depart at 18:39 then at 18:43 from Tennoji Station; so, it seems you will not need to hurry in making this transfer.

Just to make sure
: Have you set the actual date on HyperDia?
: Is JR-Namba Station really close to your destination?
(There are also non-JR several stations in Namba area.)

Let me delete "several" at the bottom of my previous response.

You can make a short transfer also to Osaka Municipal Subway Midosuji Line.

JR-Namba Station and subway Namba Station are a little apart from each other,
so I recommend you check the location of your destination and decide whether you use JR or subway.

As others have pointed out, the trains operate every few minutes during that time of the day.

But to answer your question: if Hyperdia lists it, it is usually possible unless the incoming train is delayed or you have a large amount of luggage that slows you down. The tracks are very close to each other:
