Evening ropeways 2017/12/15 21:12
Hi

Does anyone know of a ropeway in the Japanese Alps that will be running until late in the evening (i.e. after sunset) in March/April?

We will be travelling to Japan in Mid-March to Mid-April and would like to see the sunset above the mountains. E.g. from a mountain-top observatory. I know that it can be done near some of the cities (e.g. at Mt. Hakodate), but we would like to go to a mountain top further from civilization ;-)

Thanks,
Niels

There might be other ropeways, but as far as I know popular ropeways in the Japanese Alps area operating in March to April are the following two.

Komagatake ropeway

Shin-Hotaka ropeway

http://shinhotaka-ropeway.jp.e.uk.hp.transer.com

Both ropeways operate until 16:00 or so, so you can not see the sunset at the top.

You might better consider staying in the hotel near the mountain top. For example, this hotel

is just next to the ropeway station at the Komagatake.
