Ryokan Hakone 2018/1/6 18:43
Hi,

Any suggestion to a nice traditional Ryokan maybe with private Onsen and not too crazily expensive in Hakone area? Travelling with my wife and one little one (4yrs)

Thanks

Hi, I just went to Hakone about a week ago with my family. We stayed at a Ryokan named Gora Kannon. They had a private onsen and I saw many guests from foreign countries. They do not serve meal and there is only one onsen but the price was fair considering Hakone is so popular place during New year season. They said you can order breakfast and dinner from the partnered restaurant but some reviewers said the meal was cold and not really good so we did not order from them. Also the staff was really friendly and the room was good enough :) This ryokan seems very popular among foreign visitors but not many Japanese guests like it so I will leave URL here so that you can see if you like it or not.

I also recommend you to check Fujiya Hotel. We just went there to have lunch so Im not sure what their room looks like but the building was so cool. It reminded me of the castle from gSpirited Awayh. They were pretty famous ryokan so it might be expensive but it will worth just visiting:)

One last note, the public transportation system is so complicated in Hakone so you should check the location of the hotel/Ryokan carefully. If you can rent a car that will be easier.
