8 days: Tokyo only or Tokyo+Kanazawa? 2018/1/21 19:32
Hello,
I can't decide between two options.
I will be 9 nights 8 days in Japan from 14 to 24 April.
And I can't decide between two options.
My gf and I will stay in Tokyo. But, I think it would be a shame to stay do long in Japan and only see Tokyo. That's why I am considering 1 night in Kanazawa.
The thing is it's conflicting with the nice day trips available from Tokyo: Kamakura, Nikko, and the Shibazakura festival at Mt Fuji.

What would you choose, and why:
- 4 days in Tokyo with Kanazawa, and 2 of the 3 side trips (which ones ??)
OR
- stay in Tokyo (5 days) and see the 3 side trips.

Thanks so much!

Up to you really. Personally if I only had 8 days in a country, I would waste 6 hours (of travel time) to visit one location.

BOth are valid options. As previous poster said, it is really up to you. The only advantage I see of staying in Tokyo only is that you are more flexible with your side trips to do them according to your daily mood and weather.

Enjoy your trip to Japan!
