First time in Japan 2018/1/23 14:13
Hi There,
Our Family 3 Adults) has a few questions regarding our 18 days in Japan. We are open to any suggestions on accommodation and travel passes;

Arrival @ Narita 09.30 4 nights in Tokyo, July 2018. Purchase a Suica /Pasmo for travel on Narita Express, Narita - Shinjuku & InnerTokyo for 3 days.

Purchase Fuji Full Free Pass x 3
Shinjuku - Mt Fuji for 2 nights
Return to Tokyo Shinjuku

Purchase 14 day JR Rail Pass
Tokyo to Hiroshima (Shinkansen Hikari)
Hiroshima & Miyajima 2 nights

Kyoto 7 nights with day trips to Nara & Nagoya

Osaka 5 nights with day trips to Himeji & Kobe

Shin Osaka - Tokyo - Narita (Shinkansen Harika)

Would value peoples opinion on the passes especially what times the bullet train leaves Osaka (Weekday) for Tokyo. Internaltional Flight departs 21.00

Thankyou

You can look up train times using Hyperdia: www.hyperdia.com/en

I would advise purchasing a JR Pass from outside of Japan, as it is cheaper. You can buy them online - just Google it.

You must buy Japan rail pass voucher at your home country before arriving in Japan. Within 3 months of when you want to start the pass date. Then bring the voucher with you to exchange for pass.

Check out train times at Hyperida. Don't forget that Nozomi trains are not included in the pass. Also don't forget it is consecutive days. Meaning if you start a 7 day pass on Monday, it will end on Sunday night.

Your pass choices seems pretty good. My only concern would be train from osaka to Narita on the same day to catch flight. I would either leave in the morning and be in Tokyo just in case rather then timing it for last minute. Never know if you could be delayed.

Hope this helps!

You may have to leave Osaka a day earlier as it seems your pass would run out the day before your travel from Osaka to Tokyo.
