Record stores in Kawasaki? 2018/2/4 21:52
HI.

Going to Japan for the fourth time in a couple of months.
This time I plan to make a daytrip to Kawasaki to visit the Daishi Temple.

While being in Kawasaki I also like to know if there are any record stores in Kawasaki ?

Thanks.

There is a Tower Records store, inside the La Cittadela shopping mall.

Looking for what title/artist songs or category(J-pop, Jazz, Anime/Game,,,)?
No finding in Tokyo?
Are those super rare one?

TowerReco(nick in JP) doesn't sell second hand(中古 chuuko = used).

There is a huge "Book-OFF" and "Hard-OFF(same company)"
where opened near bed towns in Tokyo and Kanagawa in out of urban area.
Their ones can not be checking audition, but inspection is possible. (ask staff)
Their stores are not beautifully separated like a specialty record shop,
and it may get tiring to find out bc it does not know even if it is heard by staff.

You can search the store places only in Google MAP,
but G-MAP doesn't show the store size info, so find a nearby store first and ask the staff.

Even the word "record discs" in Japan are also called "レコード(record)", may be you already know well.

This is one of famous specialty music shops recommendations in Tokyo.

Use Google tranlate.

I'm sorry I don't know Kawasaki. However in Tokyo I assume you know about Disk Union. They are based in Shinjuku & have different stores for each Genre all close to each other. Here is a list http://diskunion.net/st/shop/e_index.html Again I'm sure you know about these already.
If I am searching for Jrock or Jpop I will always check in any Book Off I pass. I bought so many cd's back last time I was worried that customs might think I was going to open a shop :)

Hi and many thanks for your kind replies.

Sorry for being maybe a bit vague when I wrote my question.

I am mainly into rock/hardrock and I do buy both CD as well as vinyl records. I am very familiar with record stores in the Tokyo area and I know about some record stores down in Yokohama as well (which I also will visit).

Thanks very much for your replies.

Tony

Vinyls are called アナログ盤 (analog-ban) in Japanese. Or you can simply ask for LP, EP, SP etc. Why Kawasaki? Because it is the home to Japanese vinyls? I'm afraid the "Record Day" event at Citta was in last November, but here is a shop from a quick Google search.

Tops near Keikyu-Kawasaki station, next to Yokohama Bank

and their stock

Enjoy your kuzumochi!

Thanks. I am also trying to study some Japanese so thanks for this. I do manage to learn some phrases to say but the writing is very difficult for me but I will get there .....

Well I have many reasons to visit your lovely country but one of the reasons is for sure to buy vinyl records or CD. The condition of the Japanese vinyl is HIGH standard to say the least. Both covers, OBI, inserts and the vinyl itself is usually in very very good condition.

And sometimes you have to search to find some "hard to get" items. Therefore I do visit many of the stores mainly in Tokyo, but I also go to Yokohama and since I will visit Kawasaki for the first time and visit the Daishi Temple, I was curious to see if Kawasaki have any record stores as well.

Once again, many thanks for your kind replies.

Cool! I was just wondering if you've ever been to ゴクラクレコードストア near Hakuraku Station in Yokohama City. They're often closed, but the building itself is fun to see even on Google.
