HI would like to go to Suo-Oshima. What would be the best way from Hiroshima using public transportation.

You can take a local JR train to Obatake (near Yanai). From there, I took a taxi. Depending on where you want to go on the Suo-Oshima island, you can walk or take a bus (which runs very infrequently). For ref, the fare from Obatake station to the Museum of Japanese Emigration to Hawaii was about 2000 yen one way (in 2016).
