Mishima to Kyoto Shinkansen

I am planning to take the shinkansen from Mishima to Kyoto on May 5th. Will it be hard to secure seats? I arrive to Tokyo on May 2 and will be using a JR pass. Thanks.

It's possible. People are usually rushing out of the cities at the start of Golden Week, and rushing back at the end. There will definitely be a lot more people to deal with.
But if you have the JR Pass, seat reservations are free. You don't give your whole itinerary. You can activate your pass with a future date as your first day. If you do that, you can also make seat reservations for free up to a month in advance. You can do it in a JR office. This whole thing is not something you should be losing sleep over.
